### Blog Post: What Does the Bible Say About Talking to the Dead?

At Freedom Fighters Australia, we believe in standing firm in our Christian faith and guiding others on their spiritual journey. One topic that often arises is the idea of communicating with loved ones who have passed away. In a world full of mixed messages, it's crucial to understand what the Bible says about such practices and how we should approach them as believers.

#### The Biblical Perspective on Communicating with the Dead

The King James Bible provides clear guidance on the matter, consistently warning against any attempt to communicate with the dead. Here are some key passages:

- **Deuteronomy 18:10-12**: "There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch, Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. For all that do these things are an abomination unto the Lord..."
*Necromancy*, or attempting to speak with the dead, is explicitly condemned here.

- **Leviticus 19:31**: "Regard not them that have familiar spirits, neither seek after wizards, to be defiled by them: I am the Lord your God."
The Bible warns against seeking out those who claim to communicate with spirits, as this can lead us away from God.

- **Isaiah 8:19**: "And when they shall say unto you, Seek unto them that have familiar spirits, and unto wizards that peep, and that mutter: should not a people seek unto their God? for the living to the dead?"
This passage reminds us that we should seek God, not the dead, for guidance and comfort.

#### Is It a Sin to Talk to the Dead?

According to these scriptures, attempting to communicate with the dead is considered a sin. The Bible categorizes it under practices like divination, sorcery, and necromancy—activities that are strongly condemned by God. Engaging in these practices can lead us away from our faith and into spiritual darkness.

#### Dreams and Messages from God

While the Bible doesn't support the idea of communicating with the dead, it does mention that God can use dreams to convey messages to us. For example, Joseph in the Book of Genesis received divine guidance through dreams. However, these dreams were not about speaking to the dead but about receiving direction from God.

If you experience dreams where loved ones appear, it's important to approach them with discernment. These dreams might be comforting memories or God's way of providing peace, but they should not be seen as a form of communication with the dead.

#### Seeking God Above All

At Freedom Fighters Australia, we encourage you to seek comfort, guidance, and truth directly from God. The Bible is clear that our focus should be on our relationship with Him, not on attempting to reach out to those who have passed away. By staying true to the teachings of Scripture, we can ensure that our spiritual journey remains on the path that God intends for us.

Let us remember to place our trust in God, who is the source of all comfort and wisdom, and avoid practices that can lead us away from His will.

Stay strong in your faith, and keep seeking the truth in God's Word.
